Tamarack is a native tree to Minnesota and is unique because it is a deciduous conifer. This tree has horizontal to drooping branches and is pyramidal in form. The needles are a bluish-green before turning a brilliant yellow in the fall and then dropping. It is a low maintenance tree and does best with little to no pruning. This tree is often planted in groups. Tamarack will grow in average to wet conditions and prefers acidic soil. Full sun to part shade.
